Bees and more Bees

We went to see the Botanical Gardens Bee program last
Saturday, and the kids really enjoyed it. Of course there
was a craft(there always is) and they got to see a real
beehive working and a couple of bee farmers(keepers)
did a program on the heirarchy of a bee hive and why they
do what they do.

Bee craft!

Bee!

Matthew as a bee keeper!

Elizabeth as a bee keeper!

The Hive! Where is that QUEEN?

Chipped Front Tooth!

Well Matthew managed to chip his tooth on a rock,
yes I said a rock, and it wasn't thrown at him he
was looking under it and when he dropped it, he some
how wacked his tooth. The Dentist smoothed it
out and said just to watch it in case it turns gray.
I guess if your from the South you should either
be missing a tooth or have a chipped one! HA-HA!

Well we made it up to Tweetsie again after the
kids last day of school. David took the day off and
we got up there around 1:30. The weather was
great and again the crowds were slim since not all
kids are out of school in our areas. Thomas was also
there that day so that was a bonus. Matthew
doesn't play with his Thomas wood trains any-
more, but to see the life size one was pretty
exciting. The train ride had a stop and the cowboys
did a skit with Thomas being in the story line
and adding in a few peep peeps. Also, Matthew
loves number 12 Tweetsie, but Friday they had
190 on the track and he was really excited about
that. That boy loves those Steam Engines!!!

Matthew could use a riding lesson, anyone in
Indiana up for the challenge?!

Everybody loves the ferris wheel it has a great
view of the mountains and the train when it
comes around the bend!

Well school is out and during the last week the
kids had awards day. The pictures aren't very
good, but they both did very well. A lot of the
awards are sort of pointless, but both Elizabeth
and Matthew got some unique ones. Elizabeth
got one for having all A's and B's which we are
very proud of how well she did in school this year.
She has been in the gifted and talented program for
two years now and it seems to have just now
challenged her. We weren't sure about the
program at the beginning of the year, but I
think she would have been bored in the other
level class. Matthew(he is towards the right in
the picture, not some of my best photos) got a few
general awards as did Elizabeth, but he also got
one in Science. He loves Science, bugs, weather
and rocks. He is also quite the gardener. We are
obviously proud of them and wanted to share.
They had a great end of the year and with a little
sadness said goodbye to the 4th grade and the
1st grade, never to walk that way again.
